As a teacher, I’ve tried my level best to assist children struggling with their emotions. As an adult, I noticed how gaps in my own emotional intelligence held me back. After some work, I now understand that knowing our feelings and what they're telling us is the path to contentment. With these things in mind, I wrote and illustrated Eugene’s Monsters.

Eugene’s Monsters is a children’s picture book designed to offer pre-school and early grade readers a great story, with some insight into their ever-changing emotions. In it, Eugene is plagued by MONSTERS. Monsters that bring feelings of happiness, confusion, sadness, and everything in between. Only through his quest to rid himself of these tiresome pests, can Eugene come to realize that his monsters have important jobs to do, and that it's good to have them around.
